Delhi City Tour

This morning after breakfast you will proceed on a sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi. You will visit Jama Masjid-the country's largest mosque, the elegant but imposing Red Fort, Raj Ghat-a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, Humayun's tomb, Delhi's finest example of Mughal architecture, Puran Qila, (Old Fort), the massive masonry instruments of Jantar Mantar observatory, built by the man who laid the original Grand Trunk Road, the famous Lotus Temple of the Baha'i faith, the medieval workmanship of Qutb Minar, National Gallery of Modern Art, The Parliament House, the Laxminarayan Temple, the newly built Akshardham Temple and the famous Connaught Place- Delhi's biggest shopping center. Mahabodhi Temple & Mahabodho Tree

This morning after breakfast visit The Mahabodhi Temple. The temple is an immense attraction to the Buddhists, and stands near the Maha Bodhi tree under which Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment. It is a must visit not only due to its importance but also for the architecture and the art objects. The Shiva Lingam inside the temple was installed on 9th century beginning, is a splendid piece of sculpture. Later visit Mahabodhi Tree-under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. Bodhgaya - Rajgir - Nalanda – Patna (157 Km / 4 hrs)

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Patna. Enroot you will visit Rajgir & Nalanda. Visit Saptaparni Cave, hot springs, the Vishwa Shanti Stupa etc. at Rajgir and at Nalanda, visit the ruins of Nalanda University, Museum, temples and stupas. Patna - Vaishali – Kushinagar

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Kushinagar (253 kms / 8 hrs). En-route you will visit Vaishali. It is a place of special significance for Buddhist devotees as here the Buddha announced the approaching of his Mahaparinirvana. Visit Ashoka Pillar - the magnificent Ashoka pillar with a lion adorning its top is a major attraction to the tourists. This 18.3m high pillar is made of a single piece of red sandstone. On arrival at Kushinagar check in to the hotel. Khushinagar is the place where Buddha passed into Maha-Parinirvana. Overnight at hotel.

Khushinagar to Lumbini (175 Kms/5 hrs)

This morning after breakfast sight seeing tour of Kushinagar. Visit Rambha stupa where Lord Buddha is believed to be cremated and Natha Kumar Ka Kot to see Buddha’s image in state of Nirvana. Later drive to Lumbini where Prince Siddhartha was born. Overnight stay.

Lumbini to Shravasti (225 Kms / 6 hrs)

This morning after breakfast visit the site of Buddha’s birth place. Later drive to Shravasti. On arrival check in to the hotel to stay overnight.

Saravasti - Sahet & Mahet – Gonda

This morning after breakfast visit to Sahet & Mahet and the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Kosala. Sravasti has the honour for sheltering Buddha for 24 rainy seasons in the Jetvana Vihar and has the famous Anand Bodhi tree, age-old stupas, majestic monasteries and several temples. Buddha is said to have performed some miracles here. Afternoon free for leisure. Evening drive to Gonda Railway Station (40 kms) to board the train to Delhi. Train No.  2553 Vaishali Express departure from Gonga Junction at 19:35 hrs. Overnight on board.
